For two days, Liberty Square will turn into a genuine creative workshop! As part of the 11th Hungarian Cultural Days, on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, the Creative Space warmly welcomes everyone who is curious – children and adults eager to create.
Under the tents, artists, craftspeople, educators, museum professionals and students open the doors to creativity and invite you to explore with them. Here you do not just watch: you can try, touch, imagine and, of course, create!
Stories emerge from threads and yarn, beads take on new forms, wood comes alive in our hands, plaster turns into sculpture, wool becomes felt, willow twigs become baskets, and colours give birth to entire worlds. Sewing, embroidery, jewellery making, carving, plaster casting, painting, gluing, colouring, beadwork, felting, basket weaving, rope making and wood carving – all await those ready to get their hands dirty for a good idea.
And if all this were not enough, the Creative Space invites you on a special adventure: take a look behind the scenes of the Ethnographic Museum and discover more closely how the past and our material heritage are brought to life through the work of specialists.
At the Creative Space, there are no wrong ideas and no creators too young or too old – only curiosity, play, shared experiences and countless opportunities to make something you have never made before.

10:00–13:00 | Dorkász Sewing and Bible Study Circle – Rest, Recharge, Create
The Dorkász Sewing and Bible Study Circle workshop is a place for rest, recharging and creativity. While the children play freely, mothers are invited to enjoy handicraft activities, a cup of tea and pleasant conversation – a little quality time dedicated to themselves.
10:00–13:00 | Make Your Own Pocket Owl!
A colourful, cheerful and fluffy owl that can accompany you to school and even help you learn in a playful way!
Come and make your own pocket owl! It is simple and fun to create, everyone can join in, and we provide all the materials – we will even put the sewing machines to work!
10:00–17:00 | The Joy of Creating
The team of the Gerhardinum Roman Catholic Theological High School welcomes children with colouring, gluing, painting, beadwork and many other fun activities! Through creating together, creativity can flourish while we gain shared experiences and memories.

The Play and Creative House welcomes children throughout the day with playful and creative programmes. Handicraft workshops, board games and free play provide opportunities for creativity, shared experiences and relaxation. Activities are led by teachers from the “Béla Bartók” High School and other partner institutions.

10:00–17:00 | In the Footsteps of Traditional Crafts
Discover the basics of felting, basket weaving, wood carving and rope making, and experience what it is like to create something truly special with your own hands!
● Felting: under the guidance of Boglárka Sass, we will make a flower.
● Basket weaving: with the help of Boglárka Bartók, an owl will take shape in our hands.
● Wood carving and rope making: under the guidance of Gábor Barta and Rozália Molnár, we will make our own skipping rope.
During the workshops, we work with natural materials and discover traditional craft techniques in a playful way. Creating together develops creativity and manual skills while also offering a genuine community experience.

10:00–13:00 | Plaster Casting Workshop – Creativity Takes Shape
A special hands-on workshop where you can discover the fascinating world of plaster casting and restoration. We will learn how plaster is prepared, how silicone moulds are used, and the basic techniques of casting.
During the workshop, each participant will be able to make their own plaster piece and, of course, take it home at the end of the activity.
The programme is easy to follow even for beginners, so no previous experience is required – just a little curiosity and a desire to create! The focus will be on hands-on experience, the joy of discovery and creating together.
13:00–15:00 | “Bolyai János” College – Draw and Tell a Story!
Dot. Comma. Line. Shape. How many things can be created from them?
An entire story can take shape from a single dot, line or shape! In this workshop for children and adults alike, you will learn how to build whole worlds from the simplest forms.
Come and discover how easily a few playful lines can turn into an exciting story, a special character or an entirely new world!
The workshop is led by students from the arts programme of the “Bolyai János” College.

In the community of the “Gerhardinum” Roman Catholic Theological High School, the joy of creating, the strength of community and quality time spent together all have an important place.
