From 24 to 27 September, the centre of Timișoara once again becomes an important meeting point for Hungarian culture. Over four days, the 11th edition of the Hungarian Cultural Days welcomes audiences with concerts, theatre, folk dance, programmes for children and families, exhibitions, lectures, book launches, historical programmes and gastronomic experiences.
This year’s edition will open with a special gala performance by Judit Halász at the “Mihai Eminescu” National Theatre in Timișoara. That evening, the stage and the celebration will belong to children of all ages: those who are children today and those who grew up with the songs of Judit Halász. Songs that bring generations together, shared memories and the timeless joy of childhood will launch the four-day festival.
For the first time this year, the Hungarian House will become one of the key venues of the Hungarian Cultural Days. Throughout the festival, its halls will host exhibitions, book launches, lectures, discussions, tastings and community programmes, turning the Hungarian House into one of the event’s main cultural meeting points.
Among the performers taking to the main stage will be Bagossy Brothers Company, Neoton Família Sztárjai, Bekecs Dance Theatre, Pittyes2es and Gyufa, Jazzarosa, Stoned and 8Light Minutes. The rich festival programme is complemented by a folk dance gala, dance evenings, classical music, theatre, and discussions on public affairs, history and literature.
Liberty Square will become a meeting place for families, craftspeople and tradition bearers, while a medieval camp and spectacular historical programmes in Huniade Castle Park will bring the past to life. City walks, exhibitions, tastings and children’s programmes await both members of Timișoara’s Hungarian community and everyone interested in discovering them.
Four days where tradition meets contemporary culture, the past meets the present, and Timișoara meets the entire Carpathian Basin.
