Alongside her career as an actress, Judit Halász created a new artistic genre as a performer. For decades, she has been singing poems by Hungarian poets, set to music by the finest representatives of Hungarian popular music – specifically for children. Generations have grown up listening to her records.
After releasing 18 albums, a full-length concert film was made with the artist for the first time. The “CSIRIBIRI” concert features a selection of songs from the musical material of the concert film, bringing together the most popular works from Judit Halász’s unique career.
Her most recent album was released in the autumn of 2021, entitled “A vitéz, a kalóz, meg a nagymama” (“The Brave One, the Pirate and Grandma”), followed in the autumn of 2022 by a compilation album entitled “Miénk a világ” (“The World Is Ours”).
She considers one of her most important missions to maintain the interest of families and children in Hungarian poetry and, through songs, entertaining them in an engaging and unobtrusive way while drawing their attention to the many important principles of life that we must adapt to if we wish to live according to the ethics of humanism.
The children of Hungary chose her as the first-ever “Knight of the Order of the Smile.” She is a member of the Vígszínház Theatre company and a member of the Board of the Hungarian UNICEF. For her work and achievements to date, the Hungarian state has honoured her with the Jászai Mari Award, the title of “Meritorious Artist,” the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, as well as the Kossuth Prize.

The impressive collection of Sándor Orosz takes us on a journey spanning more than a century of photographic history. The nearly 300 cameras on display cover the period from 1912 to 2006.
In addition to cameras, visitors will also have the opportunity to see a variety of vintage objects related to photography, including slide projectors, stereoscopic image viewers, photographic enlargers, period photography magazines, and books.
The accompanying projected presentation offers an overview of photographic history and the evolution of photography through the decades.

For the young dancers of the MÁI AMI-Csanád Dance Ensemble from Makó, Hungarian folk dance is more than a stage performance: it is a shared community experience and a living tradition. The folk-dance community of the Makó Primary and Elementary Art School brings the values of Hungarian folk culture, the joy of dancing together and a love of tradition to the audience of the Hungarian Cultural Days of Timișoara. The performance takes place during the sustainability period of the ROHU00208 – Connecting communities through rhythm and beat project. The ROHU00208 project was implemented within the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Bartha Csaba talks with Turos Lóránd, senator from Satu Mare County and leader of the DAHR parliamentary group in the Senate, about how the interests of the Hungarian community can be effectively represented and defended in the upper house of Parliament at a time when budgetary austerity measures, administrative reform, and increasingly heated political rhetoric are intensifying every debate.
Where is the line between compromise and giving up? What can be achieved through negotiation, and when is it necessary to take a firm stand? And how different is the atmosphere in the Senate from that in the Chamber of Deputies?
The parliamentary group leader also offers a glimpse behind the scenes: how decisions are made, whom they need to reach agreements with, and what are the things the press rarely reports on.

Folk dancers believe that folk dance carries a special kind of power: it has the ability to create miracles in the lives of all those who practice it. A successful stage performance or a dance production with an unforgettable atmosphere can enchant the audience as well – perhaps only for a brief moment – yet it can have a lifelong impact on the dancers themselves. At this year’s Hungarian Days of Timișoara, the groups of the Eszterlánc Folk Dance Ensemble from Timișoara will perform – Eszterlánc, Lármatüzek, Dobbantó, Ezüstpatkó and Aprókák – together with the Eszterlánc band. The Bokréta Folk Dance and Zither Ensemble will also take the stage, accompanied by the Kisbokréta and Morzsa Bokréta dance groups, as well as the Vadrózsa and Búzavirág zither groups.

It has been more than two decades since Swiss-born Philipp Oser established the Villa Tolnay estate on the southern slopes of Csobánc Hill, which today encompasses 26 hectares of vineyards. “Alongside the timeless culture of wine, we also convey the soul of an entire region,” the website states, and anyone who has visited the impeccably designed, quality-focused winery and tasted their wines knows that this is more than just a rhetorical flourish. The estate’s finely crafted wines are presented by László Nagy, the estate’s cellar master.

Inherited Through Dance is an authentic journey through the representative communities and dialects of the Carpathian Basin. The performing artists offer a glimpse into the intangible cultural heritage of master dancers, singers and traditional musicians, drawing on their distinctive styles and the aesthetic value of their movements.
The performance evokes the characteristic dance atmospheres of the Southern Great Plain, Felcsík, Gyergyó, Szatmár, Méhkerék, Sălaj, Sóvidék and Kalotaszeg.
The creators believe in the power of passing traditions from one generation to the next and in the values this process brings. Their guiding principle is that only through a thorough understanding of the past can we find multiple threads with which to hold on to the future.

The travelling exhibition, compiled by the Institute of National Heritage of Hungary, aims to bring the historical heritage of Mohács closer to audiences in Hungary and beyond its borders, in connection with the 500th anniversary of the battle.
The exhibition presents the history and memory of the Battle of Mohács, as well as the latest findings of historical research. The panels provide an insight into the archaeological research of the battlefield and the excavation of mass graves, while also presenting efforts to preserve the memory of the heroes of Mohács.
At the same time, the exhibition does more than recall the events of the past: it highlights the Central European significance of the Battle of Mohács, the shared historical heritage of different nations, and the five-hundred-year process of remembrance through which the memory of the heroes of Mohács continues to be preserved today. The final panel presents the major programmes connected to the 500th anniversary, including the renewal of the Mohács National Memorial Site and the provision of a final resting place and proper tribute for the heroes.

The Cluj-based band encourages the audience to sing, move and dance, creating the musical experience together. The lyrics of their songs, most of which are based on children’s poems, have an uplifting character and are closely connected to people and nature. Their melodies are playfully charming and create a warm, intimate atmosphere. Their music is characterized primarily by elements of ethno, folk and rock.

Zoltán Vetési’s new book, The Future of the World – Without Parties, starts from a critique of today’s mass democracy and explores the possibility of a bottom-up representative system in which representatives can be held directly accountable. The book draws on Hungarian and Székely historical traditions, as well as the state concept embodied in the Holy Crown Doctrine. Csaba Bartha will talk with Zoltán Vetési about the book’s bold ideas, how such a system could function in the 21st century, and the role of artificial intelligence in the writing of the book.

“They Imagine Something” is a playful, interactive children’s programme featuring guitar and singing, where storytelling, music and poetry come together. Actor, singer, director and librarian Norbi Varga invites children to join in the fun through well-known children’s books, beloved storybook characters, famous songs and his own compositions.
The little ones are not merely listeners at the concert: they can sing along, take part in the storytelling, share their ideas, move around and become part of the stories themselves. Accompanied by guitar, the cheerful and engaging performance turns storytelling and music-making into a genuine shared experience, while playfully bringing children closer to the world of books, poems and songs.

The Rákóczi Association’s Hungarian School Choice Program has been running since 2004 with the aim of encouraging as many Hungarian families living outside Hungary as possible to choose schools where education is provided in Hungarian. This year, the program reaches nearly 10,000 children from Hungarian communities beyond Hungary’s borders. We warmly welcome all students and their parents who have started their studies this school year at a Hungarian-language school in Timiș County to the scholarship presentation ceremony in Timișoara!
The scholarship presentation will be followed by a fun and interactive children’s program. During the “Így tedd rá!” activities, the youngest participants can enjoy traditional Hungarian rhymes, singing circle games, dance-based movement activities and skill-building games. Through these playful activities, children can discover the values of Hungarian culture while moving, singing and playing freely.

Hungary’s one and only Rolling Stones tribute show, since 2003!
Stoned are committed to playing the songs of The Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band to a high standard and reproduce the real Rolling Stones feel both musically and through their overall stage presence including famous moves, costumes and instruments.
The setlist includes all the big hits and a lot of rarities played and recorded by The Stones in their career of 55+ years. Stoned are able to set up concept shows dedicated to a famous Rolling Stones show or an album or era of them.
Members of the group are not only hardcore Rolling Stones fans, but acknowledged players of the Hungarian blues and rock scene.

In recent times, relations between Hungarian communities have become marked by unprecedented tensions. How did we arrive at this situation, and how can we break out of this spiral of growing distance from one another? Is it necessary and possible to rethink relations between Hungarians, and what roles and responsibilities do the Hungarian Government, as well as the institutional and political actors representing Hungarian communities beyond Hungary’s borders, have in this process? Beyond exploring the causes of the current situation, the discussion will seek ways to strengthen trust, dialogue and cooperation between Hungarian communities.

In his recently published family novel, Another Life, Timișoara-based writer Andrásy József builds the story not through conventional storytelling, but from a puzzle of novella-length text fragments. This colorful mosaic brings together everyone and everything: from an SS soldier hardened by the Second World War to a gaucho roaming the Argentine pampas; from a teenager shaped by the survival instinct of 1980s Timișoara to a citizen struggling to navigate the nationalism of the 21st century. And, of course, there is love, revenge, blood, and devotion.
The author will be in conversation with Ildikó Molnos, and at the end of the event, he will dedicate copies of his book.

During the 1552 siege of Timișoara, István Losonczy and the defenders of the fortress heroically resisted the besieging Ottoman armies between June 25 and July 27. When they withdrew on July 27, they gave their lives for their faith and homeland.
In their memory, traditional archers will shoot a total of 1552 arrows at targets positioned 15 meters away.

More than eight years: that is how long the period lasted for Markó Attila, a period condensed into a single number in the title of his book. The Mikó case, the compensation lawsuits, his escape to Hungary, followed by the acquittals – 101 Months is the personal story of a politician, but at the same time it is also a document of its time, showing how the justice system operates when restitution and the return of minority community property become political issues.

Hortenzia Tőtős is a storyteller and folk dance educator, and the founder of the Girgácia House of Tales and the Tulipános Dance Workshop, where folk tales and traditional dance come together in a holistic, experience-based way. A tale is a magical gateway: it provides a sense of security, develops the imagination, enriches language, and helps us find our way in the world. A tale is a bridge: it connects the wisdom of the past with the experience of the present and leads us into the magical world of imagination.

The Szolnok Air Force Band was founded in 1969, and in 2026 it celebrates its 57th year of existence. The ensemble operates under the command of the Hungarian Defence Forces’ 86th Helicopter Brigade “Kiss József.” In addition to providing musical accompaniment at military and ceremonial events, its mission is to promote Hungarian musical culture and strengthen the relationship between the Hungarian Defence Forces and civil society.
Over the past decades, the band has participated in international military band festivals and major events in numerous European countries. In 2017, it represented Hungary and the Hungarian Defence Forces at the World Expo in Astana, and in 2019 it performed in Brussels as part of the “NATO 20” series of events.
Its artistic work has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards. In 2019, the band received the Prima Award and the Jász-Nagykun Art Award, while in 2022 it achieved great success at the “Hungarian Day” event in Kosovo, organized by the KFOR Command.
The city of Szolnok has repeatedly recognized the ensemble’s cultural contribution. In 2001, the band received the “In Memory of Gyula Kaposvár” Cultural Award, and in 2024 it was presented with one of the most prestigious distinctions of the City of Szolnok, the “Silver Pelican” Award.
The artistic director and conductor of the Szolnok Air Force Band is Major János Molnár, a Prima Award-winning conductor. His deputy is Captain Sándor Márki.

What did Mohács mean for Hungarian history, and how has its memory endured five centuries later? Beginning with the Battle of 1526, József Baksa’s lecture takes the audience towards the Southern Great Plain and the historic southern regions of Hungary, also exploring their historical connections with Vásárhely and Timișoara. A journey through the legacy of Mohács, the consequences of the Ottoman era, and the way the saying “More Was Lost at Mohács!” became part of Hungarian collective memory.

The performance is a fitting tribute to the 1552 siege of Timișoara, when István Losonczy and the defenders of the fortress heroically resisted the besieging Ottoman armies between June 25 and July 27. They repelled several bloody assaults and, upon their withdrawal on July 27, gave their lives for their faith and homeland.

The Bagossy Brothers Company was formed in May 2013 in Gyergyószentmiklós, Transylvania, and has been performing with the same lineup ever since. Thanks to their energetic, audience-focused live performances and distinctive musical style, they quickly became one of the most popular Hungarian bands, first in Transylvania and later throughout the Carpathian Basin.
Over the course of their career, they have released five full-length albums, a triple album featuring folk music arrangements, a symphonic live album, an EP, and a special Christmas album. Most of their albums have achieved multiple gold or platinum certifications, while their 2019 album Veled Utazom (Traveling with You) reached six-times platinum status. The band is currently working on their sixth full-length album, Lámpás.
Their success has been accompanied by numerous professional accolades, including four Petőfi Music Awards, two Fonogram Awards, and the title of Most Beautiful Hungarian Song from Transylvania. In 2020, a public opinion poll named them Hungary’s most popular band, and in the same year they were featured in Spotify’s annual TOP 10 lists in both the band and song categories.
In 2023, they celebrated their tenth anniversary with a sold-out concert at MVM Dome, as well as the publication of their book, Tíz éve úton (Ten Years on the Road), and a film documenting the band’s story. In 2024, they premiered their folk-inspired production Csillag az égen (Star in the Sky), which debuted with three consecutive sold-out performances at Erkel Theatre. In 2025, the production also reached Transylvania, with approximately 120,000 people attending the concert held in the Csíksomlyó saddle.

The impressive collection of Sándor Orosz takes us on a journey spanning more than a century of photographic history. The nearly 300 cameras on display cover the period from 1912 to 2006. The Vaga Banda troupe was founded in the spring of 2003 in Miskolc, Hungary. The troupe is led by Szabolcs Kapusi. The name Vaga Banda comes from the Latin word vagabundus (travelling, wandering). The troupe honours and carries on the rich tradition of travelling theatres, wandering performers and entertainers.
With joy and enthusiasm, they take part in various forms of fairground entertainment, presenting their shows on stilts and featuring giant puppets. They are popular performers at festivals throughout the Carpathian Basin.
Their characteristic interactive style and fairground performance atmosphere promise plenty of fun for their wide-eyed, short-legged audience. Their performances entertain both children and adults and are among the festival’s must-see programmes.

By a strange favor of fate, he gained power over the will of the djinn, who took the form of snakes. In his lecture, Péter B. Szabó will present the Swiss canton of Jura’s long struggle for self-determination and the history of how its autonomy was achieved. How did the aspirations of a minority community, pursued over several decades, develop into a successful model of autonomy, and what lessons can the example of Jura offer for Transylvania and, in particular, for the Székely Land?
Drawing on historical experiences, the lecture explores questions of self-determination, autonomy, and the preservation and continuity of a community.

Timișoara. Eighteen years. One decision that changes everything!
Standing on the threshold of their final school-leaving exams, almost every young person asks themselves the same question: “should I leave or stay?” Is it possible to build a future in Timișoara? What does it mean to belong to this city today? And why do young people today also speak about the 1980s with such a peculiar sense of nostalgia?
The latest production by the Bartók Student Theatre is a thoroughly Timișoara story. Through the life story of a young man drawn from the ranks of his generation, the performance recalls those moments that shape us almost unnoticed: a childhood trauma that stays with us for years; the memory of first love; the uncertainties, failures and joys of adolescence; family, friends and the city that is at once a home and a question mark.
Using contemporary theatrical techniques, music and movement, the performance explores growing up, identity and the choices we make. Csáo™ is at once humorous and moving, cheekily honest and charmingly true to life – a story in which not only young people, but also their parents and grandparents, may recognize themselves.

The Cári Tibor Trio is a Transylvanian ensemble founded by composer and pianist Tibor Cári. They are joined as permanent members by cellist J. Attila Szabó and violinist Anna Dávid, whose playing perfectly complements and elevates the ensemble’s unique sound. The trio primarily performs theatre music, creating a lyrical and neoclassical atmosphere.

While we read every day about declining wine consumption, especially the decline in red wine, well-known red-wine regions still hide true gems: estates that collect numerous awards at prestigious wine competitions. One such estate is Fivérek Winery, associated with László Milhoffer, where the harvest from 20 hectares is transformed into outstanding wines that express the message of the terroir and have also earned international recognition.

8LM (8Light Minutes) is an emerging alternative rock/grunge band with a distinctly Timișoara character. The members have been making music together since childhood. Their music is packed with emotion, yet anything but restrained. It is both quiet chaos and screaming order—a blend of moods and atmospheres.
8LM has already performed on numerous stages across Transylvania and Hungary, and later had the opportunity to perform as a support act for the bands 30Y and Esti Kornél.
The 8Light Minutes concert is organized within the framework of the ROHU00291 – ROLE-ART project. The ROHU00291 – ROLE-ART project is implemented under the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Three outstanding artists, three remarkable musical journeys come together on one stage. Leonard Bonea, pianist at the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara; Béla Turpinszky Gippert, a tenor acclaimed on opera stages both in Romania and internationally; and Dóra Cintia Szép-Szabó, an opera singer who began her career in Timișoara, invite the audience to a joint performance. The evening will take the audience into the world of classical music, opera, and musical theatre, promising a unique musical experience for the audience of the Hungarian Days of Timișoara.

Since 2005, Neoton Família Sztárjai have carried on the musical legacy of the legendary Neoton Família. Their concerts feature timeless hits such as Santa Maria, Holnap hajnalig, Nyár van, and Kétszázhúsz felett. The energetic live performance by Éva Csepregi, Ádám Végvári, János „Öcsi” Baracs, and their fellow musicians is a true journey through time, bringing together several generations to sing along to the best-known songs of Hungarian pop music.
